Andy refuses to rule out run for Commons seat

ANDY Burnham has refused to rule out a return to Parliament, as speculation linking him with a future Labour leadership bid intensifies.

The Greater Manchester mayor is favourite to succeed Keir Starmer if the PM steps down - and he has declined to damp down the gossip.

The former Health Secretary said he “didn't know” if he would stand as an MP if a seat became available.

Mr Burnham, who said the UK was in a “reasonably turbulent place”, would need a Commons seat to mount a leadership challenge.
