BREWERY IS STOUT OF THE ORDINARY

GUINNESS hopes its new £73million venue will attract 500,000 drinkers a year.

Open Gate Brewery, which opens on Thursday, will not produce its own Guinness, instead making limited-edition special brews.

But it will offer perfectly pulled pints of the black stout, supplied by the firm's historic St James's Gate Brewery in Dublin.

There will also be a visitor attraction, restaurants and a shop selling Guinness merchandise.

Owner Diageo, which also makes Johnnie Walker whisky and Smirnoff vodka, hopes the venue in Central London will serve an estimated 750,000 pints a year.

The opening of the new attraction comes amid a torrid time for the industry giant.
