Gordon Brown: End two-child benefit limit

GORDON Brown has called for the total abolition of the twochild benefit cap, piling pressure on the government to act.

The ex-Labour PM said the rise in child poverty in the past decade was "shameful, a scar on the soul of our nation, a stain on the conscience of our country".

His intervention comes as Keir Starmer considers scrapping or watering down the Tory-era policy blamed for trapping kids in poverty.

Yesterday Mr Brown said: "It's the two-child rule that is responsible for every year the numbers of children in poverty rising."
