The Institute of Environmental Professionals Sri Lanka (IEPSL) is the country's foremost professional body committed to advancing excellence in environmental practice and promoting sustainable development.

The Institute of Environmental Professionals Sri Lanka (IEPSL)

The Institution founded in 2006 and it was formally incorporated through a cabinet paper in 2020 under Act No. 01 of 2020. IEPSL has been playing a key role in environmental governance in Sri Lanka. The institute was established to fill a longstanding void in professional representation for environmentalists safeguarding the integrity of the profession while delivering services that serve the public interest.

IEPSL functions with a well-structured institutional framework that mainly promotes professional excellence, environmental advocacy, and industry collaboration. The institute is chaired by its President, Mr. Asela Iddawela, and is supported by the leadership team comprising the President-elect, Immediate Past President, Senior Vice President, Vice President, Honorary Secretary, Treasurer, and Editor, along with its governing council which consists of 23 members.

Vision and Mission

Vision: A vibrant body of outstanding environmental professionals contributing effectively to the advancement of the field of environment and resolving contemporary environmental challenges.

Mission: To protect the dignity and recognition of the profession through education, research, and the application of scientific knowledge while maintaining high standards in environmental management practices.

IEPSL is working towards maintaining high professional standards among its members to enhance environmental protection, conservation, and sustainable management practices across Sri Lanka.
