Sri Lanka rout Bangladesh by nine wickets

Left arm spinner Himaru Deshan bagged eight scalps as Sri Lanka U-17 pulled off a nine wicket win over host Bangladesh U-17 in the second three-day encounter at the BSCG ground in Dhaka, Bangladesh yesterday to square the series 1-1.

Sri Lanka chasing 66 for victory raced to the target with ease for the loss one wicket in 10.2 overs.

The win made Sri Lanka turn tables on Bangladesh after losing the first three-day game.

Bangladesh resuming the final day’s play on 107 for 6 and needing 106 more runs to avert an innings defeat, did well to get up to 278 but had to negotiate some effective bowling from Deshan in the process that held up Sri Lanka’s push for victory.

The overnight pair of Saurav Karmakar and Junayed Hossain gave the visitors some anxious moments as the pair put in some stiff resistance and made the Sri Lanka bowlers work hard for success.
