|May 30, 2025
In a significant step towards boosting Sri Lanka’s renewable energy capacity, HayWind, a subsidiary of Hayleys Fentons, this week officially signed the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for a 50MW wind power project in Mannar.
The agreement marks a milestone for the country’s clean energy ambitions, with the company pledging to supply wind energy to the national grid at a competitive rate of US 4.65 cents per unit, the lowest tariff recorded for a wind project in the country to date. The signing of the agreement was held in Colombo this week with industry leaders, government officials, and renewable energy advocates in attendance.
Addressing the gathering, Managing Director of Hayleys Fentons, Hasith Prematillake, expressed confidence in the timely completion of the project.
