Many of us keep pets at home, caring for them.

For some, these animals become an integral part of life, receiving the same protection as any family member. During the noble Poson month, we had the privilege of meeting a family that cares for a remarkable number of animals. Gamunu Kularatne, his wife, and his brother Hasitha Kularatne resides in Kadapathvehera, Kurunegala. Gamunu Kularatne has long been providing shelter and care for helpless cats, performing a truly admirable service. While there are several shelters for dogs in Sri Lanka, it is the first time we have come across a place that shelters nearly 70 cats.
