The Class of 2025 faces added pressures amid the rapidly evolving world of work and skills development, and the high unemployment rate. The latest figures from Statistics South Africa show youth aged 15 to 24 facing the highest unemployment at 58.5%, followed by 25to 34-year-olds at 38.4%.

Higgs coaxes matriculants to summon the courage to ask for mentorships and job shadowing opportunities.

“There are so many opportunities, but learners are often deeply fearful to ask. You need to raise your voice, ask for what you want, put yourself out there,” he says.
