Bay school district’s matric performance has improved 0.7% to 87.4% in 2025 despite a 0.66% drop in bachelor’s degree passes.Two pupils were among the group that was honoured as top achievers nationally, putting the metro and the Eastern Cape on the map.
Maria Freercks from Collegiate Girls' High School in Gqeberha placed second nationally among top-performing quintile 5 schools, while Freercks was announced as the overall top achiever provincially, with the second and third positions taken by Danel Muller and Caroline Booysens from Clarendon High School for Girls in East London.
