UNP calls for resignation of Public Security Minister over lawyer killing

THE United National Party (UNP) yesterday condemned the killing of Attorney-at-Law Buddhika Mallawarachchi and his wife, warning that the incident poses a serious threat to the rule of law and the integrity of Sri Lanka's legal system.

In the statement, the UNP noted the broad daylight shooting on 13 February would have a significant adverse impact on law and order, which it described as already weakened by a series of recent killings.
