Colombo stock market overcomes volatility to close on the up

THE Colombo stock market yesterday managed to close marginally up after an erratic day of investor sentiments amidst high turnover.

The benchmark ASPI closed with a gain of 0.2% or 47 points, whilst the active S&P SL20 declined by 0.2%. Turnover was Rs.7.46 billion involving 295.37 million shares.
First Capital said the market witnessed a volatile day of trading, however, overall market sentiment remained positive, extending the upward streak from Wednesday.
DIAL, GREG, BUKI, CARS, and LOLC emerged as the main positive drivers of the index. Both retail and HNW investors demonstrated reasonably high levels of activity, with a spotlight on small- to medium-cap companies, such as EBCR, LVEF, and SIRA.
