PHIL FODEN says this disastrous season for Manchester City has been the biggest lesson of his career.

Pep Guardiola's all-conquering champions will miss out on the biggest prizes this year, with the FA Cup the last major trophy they can win.

It has been an eye-opening season for City but, amid the disappointment, midfielder Foden says he has taken a lot from it and is convinced they will come back stronger.

Speaking to TNT Sports' Sign Up - Into Football he said: “I feel like this season, even though we've not won [as much], I've learnt the most from it. It just shows how much you have to put in to win these trophies and the level that is set to win.

“It's a learning curve and next season hopefully we can be back to our best and play the way we used to.”

Foden says it has shown that no team can stay on top forever - even mighty City.
