THERE were no tears when Ryan Yates picked up the booking that has ruled him out of Nottingham Forest's first FA Cup semi-final since 1991.

He is not built that way. Yet the Forest skipper did admit he was hoping Lewis Dunk would have missed his penalty and spared him his moment of glory.

The mix of sacrifice and humility sums up the midfielder.

There were no second thoughts for the repercussions when he hauled down Brajan Gruda in extra-time.

The decision-making process was simple. Is my team in trouble? Yes. How do I stop that? Take one for the team.

But it was only in the seven days before this tie that Yates had any process for taking Forest's fifth and decisive spot-kick.

Yates had been set to take the sixth penalty in the fifth round against Ipswich, only for goalkeeper Matz Sels to save Jack Taylor's effort and spare him the trouble.
