Gold medallist boxer's bid to make Hull 'better place'

REFORM'S latest candidate and former Olympic boxing champion Luke Campbell has told how he is aiming for a knockout victory in mayoral elections.

In his first interview since being presented to the public by party leader Nigel Farage on Thursday, he stressed that he is striving to save his city Hull from Government "lies".

He admitted to the Express. "Going out on stage and telling the audience why I was there was scarier than going in the ring and actually fighting someone." Standing before 2,000 supporters in his home city, he blamed the Labour Party for "failing Hull for decades".

He added: "With the parties we've had, they've failed the country, they've lied. I've always been a Labour man - my dad was a miner, my mum worked in a factory. It's always been Labour."
