Welfare plans could mean ban on pets' shock collars

Electric collars may be outlawed
ELECTRIC shock collars for pets may be banned, as part of proposals to improve animal welfare.
The flagship government strategy, launching today, would also outlaw trail hunting amid fears it is used as cover to chase live foxes.
There are moves to halt cruel breeding practices such as puppy farming as well.
The proposals build on law changes introduced in Parliament over the last year that target puppy smuggling and impose larger penalties for worrying livestock.
