A WAITER who grew up in care is helping struggling pupils get through their GCSEs thanks to a project he launched with £8,000 he saved up from his restaurant tips.
Junior Saunders, 39, put away the money over three years, and used it to fund GCSE Boost.
The two-day motivational event in his home town Bristol was attended by more than 2,000 youngsters and hundreds of parents, with careers advice from potential employers.
Now Junior wants it to be rolled out across the country to reach as many young people as possible.
He said: "I still have got to put down my kitchen floor and some doors in my house.
Setbacks
"There were things I could have done with that eight grand, but this was the priority because if I can save one person's life through mental health and their exams, then I know I have done something right."
