ASTON VILLA’S Champions League bid turned into a nightmare at the Theatre of Dreams.

Unai Emery and his team were left fuming after being on the wrong end of a controversial refereeing decision.

Just before Amad Diallo made it 1-0 to Manchester United, Villa thought they had opened the scoring.

Morgan Rogers dispossessed Altay Bayindir and tapped the ball into an unguarded net.

But the whistle of referee Thomas Bramall — blown because he felt the goalkeeper had two hands on the ball even though TV replays suggested he had not — killed any celebrations.
