'UK could be target of Russian attacks'

Conservative defence expert sounds alarm on Putin

THE threat of "grey zone warfare" by Russia on the UK this year includes drone attacks or the lights going out in London, a former defence select committee chairman has warned.

Former Tory MP Tobias Ellwood said the threat posed to Britain in 2025 is the worst since the Second World War.

He described how Russia could use cyber warfare, economic sabotage or even military hardware to undermine British security.

His remarks come as Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine nears its third anniversary.

In that time, the UK has committed £12.8billion in military aid for Kyiv, to which Moscow has responded with numerous threats.
