Tribute as toy tycoon dies at 91

THE boss behind Polly Pocket and The Big Yellow Teapot has died aged 91.

Sir Torquil Norman helped bring “unbelievable joy to millions of young people” around the world, his Tory MP son Jesse told the Commons yesterday.

Mr Norman said he hoped his father’s values of positivity, creativity and respect could inspire the country in a time of “difficulty”.

Sir Torquil had served in the Fleet Air Arm and was a banker before he entered the toymaking sector, which saw him set up Bluebird Toys in 1980.
