Three die as Storm Babet leaves trail of destruction

STORM Babet has claimed three lives as it continues to batter large parts of Britain, it was confirmed last night.

Police yesterday said a man in his 60s died after being dragged under fast-flowing water from an overflowing brook in Cleobury Mortimer, Shrops. His body was recovered two hours later.

On Thursday night, the body of a woman, 57, swept into a swollen river in Glen Esk, Angus, was recovered. It was also revealed a 56-year-old driver had died when a falling tree hit a van near Forfar, Angus.
