March 03, 2025

IT was 59 years ago, in March 1966, when Preston last progressed this far in the FA Cup - but the dreams of the two-time winners ended in the closing minutes of a quarter-final replay against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The initial tie at Deepdale on Saturday, March 26 ended 1-1, with Alex Dawson putting the home side ahead in the 40th minute before David Herd equalised for United two minutes into the second half.
