'The walls begin to close in'

As Beyond Paradise returns, DI Humphrey Goodman and his police team are facing fresh chaos in Shipton Abbott

Beyond Paradise is back and our hero is all at sea - both figuratively and literally. DI Humphrey Goodman's houseboat has slipped its moorings and he wakes up to find himself and new wife Martha marooned in the ocean. Then, at work, a crime novelist is murdered in the bath, mirroring a plot from one of his books, leaving Humphrey riding waves of confusion.

Actor Kris Marshall first played Humphrey in Death In Paradise in 2014 and now stars in spin-off show Beyond Paradise with Sally Bretton, who plays Henry's wife Martha.

“Ever since we met Humphrey in the Caribbean, he's been a frustrated sailor,” says Kris. “He loves the romanticism of being on a boat and is always drawn to the water.”

However, the new series will see Humphrey and Martha move into an actual house - albeit one that needs new windows and plumbing.
