Youngster expected to blow his rivals away

CHARLIE APPLEBY is confident Distant Storm is heading to York as a “big player” for today’s Tattersalls Acomb Stakes.

The Godolphin team went to €1.9million to secure the colt’s services at the Arqana breeze-up sale in May and he gave them an immediate return on their investment when making a successful start to his career at Newmarket’s July Festival, holding on to beat an Aiden O’Brien youngster, Constitution River, by a short head.

That form could hardly have worked out better, with not only the runner-up and the third Catullus winning since, but also the fifth, sixth, seventh, ninth and 10th home.
