Son's death 'accident' says dad

THE death of a three-year-old boy at a family farm was a a "tragic accident" that "has ruined my life", the boy's father told a jury.

Neil Speakman, 39, reversed a telehandler tractor over his son Albie at the family farm in Bury, Greater Manchester, in 2022.

Albie, who had been playing in the front garden of the farmhouse, suffered catastrophic injuries.

Speakman, who denies manslaughter, told prosecutor John Elvidge KC, cross-examining: "It was a tragic accident. I made a mistake."
