Son of Horizon scandal victim in line for inheritance payout

THE son of a postmistress killed by alcoholism after she was wrongly convicted in the Horizon computer scandal has secured a court victory over his uncle in an inheritance battle based on her £578,000 compensation.

Dawn O’Connell died aged 57, seven months before the Appeal Court overturned her conviction for false accounting over bogus cash shortfalls at her branch in Northolt, North-West London. Hundreds of UK staff were wrongly prosecuted, as shown in ITV drama Mr Bates vs The Post Office last year.
