How grateful Kyle revived his fortunes

- Adam Hathaway

SINC OR SWIM

KYLE SINCKLER has revealed his World Cup dreams were in the balance before England headed to France just over three weeks ago.

The prop injured a chest muscle in training ahead of the 30-22 warm-up collapse against Fiji and said his hopes of making the tournament were on a knife-edge.

Sinckler missed the opening 27-10 win over Argentina in Marseille but started against Japan eight days later and was back on parade for the 71-0 thrashing of Chile in Lille on Saturday.

The 30-year-old saluted head coach Steve Borthwick for keeping faith in him.

"Before the Fiji game I pulled up with a pec tear, which was kind of touch and go," said Sinckler.

"But I was keen to play last week against Japan and to get the start against Chile was pretty cool.
