A WIDOW who was investigated by police for nearly a year after she accompanied her husband to Dignitas has urged MPs and peers to recognise that assisted dying cannot be just for rich people.

Right to die 'not just for wealthy'

Journey...Antony and Louise

Louise Shackleton, who learned this month she will not be charged over Antony’s death in Switzerland, made her plea as the House of Lords prepares to carry on scrutinising a Bill which would give some people in England and Wales the right to die.

The North Yorkshire mum-of-three paid tribute to her “amazing” husband, who had motor neurone disease, and said he had asked her to “tell my story” after his death. She said Antony, 59, was “so pleased” that the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill passed its first vote in the Commons last November, less than a week before he died at the clinic.

The Daily Express crusade Give Us Our Last Rights is fighting for assisted dying to be legalised.
