PM crisis warning over tax for OAPs

THE PM was last night warned he faces another “winter fuel crisis” after he refused to rule out extending the freeze on tax thresholds.

Tory leader Kemi Badenoch earlier quizzed Sir Keir Starmer over the issue at PMQs.

She said pensioners face the prospect of a retirement tax.

The tax-free personal allowance has been frozen at £12,570 until 2028, but the full new state pension is set to exceed this by April 2027 — bringing OAPs into the tax bracket.
