Paramedic hit in parade feared it was terror attack
Daily Express
|December 15, 2025
A MAN hit in the Liverpool FC victory parade crash has revealed he initially thought the incident was a terrorist attack.
Jay Vernon, 34, was on duty as a cycle response paramedic when he was hit by a car on May 26.
Paul Doyle, 54, is due to be sentenced today for 31 offences related to the crash, which happened when he ploughed into fans in Liverpool city centre after the Premier League victory celebration.
Mr Vernon, who was on duty for North West Ambulance Service, was called to a reported cardiac arrest just after the parade had ended.
He said he had been on foot in front of an ambulance when he was hit by Doyle’s car.
