Over half trains in the North run late

THREE operators serving northern England run fewer than half their trains on time.

Avanti West Coast is only punctual on a third of its services.

Just 45.8 per cent of stops at stations by TransPennine Express were within a minute of their schedule. Northern was only slightly better at 48 per cent.

The figures come from Office of Rail and Road data between October 16 and November 12.
