'Olivia was screaming Mum, I'm scared...then everything kicked off'

Brother heard shots after she ran downstairs, court hears

THE brother of Olivia Pratt-Korbel said the nine-year-old screamed, "I'm scared, Mummy, I'm scared" before she was shot, a court heard.

Ryan Korbel said he was in his room when he heard three bangs.

He added, in a video interview played at Manchester Crown Court yesterday: "The next thing I heard was footsteps across the landing. It was Olivia, she was running downstairs screaming, 'Mum, I'm scared'." A police officer asked him if he knew what his sister was scared of.

Ryan said: "No, she literally said, 'I'm scared, Mummy, I'm scared'. Then I heard her footsteps.

"Downstairs she said it another two times, 'I'm scared, I'm scared' and then everything else just kicked off."

Thomas Cashman denies fatally shooting Olivia and injuring her mother Cheryl, 46, after allegedly chasing Joseph Nee into their house in Dovecot, Liverpool, on August 22 last year.
