Nurse killed in airport crash on first day of job

A NURSE on her first day in a new job was killed in the Southend airport plane crash.

Maria Fernanda Rojas Ortiz, 31, was on the medical transport aircraft which exploded on Sunday afternoon, killing all four on board.

It is understood Maria was originally from Chile but was a German citizen and lived in Germany.

A friend told the Express she had the “warmest heart” and that she had just started a new role.

A GoFundMe page set up for the nurse says: “It is with great sadness that we confirm the death of our beloved Fena, in a tragic accident that is still under investigation by the authorities.

“We know that the pain is immense and shared by the many people who loved her and supported her at different stages of her life.”
