Boy, 15, pleads guilty to knife murder of 12-year-old

- BY DAN WARBURTON

THE heartbroken family of a 12-year-old boy "hunted" and murdered by a teenager have spoken of their devastation that his life was taken in a senseless attack.

Leo Ross was walking home from school when he was ambushed by a 14-year-old he did not know, who knifed him in the stomach. The attack was brutal violence purely for violence’s sake, detectives said.

The killer had previously beaten three elderly women, had approached another potential victim that day and had been circling the area seeking his next target, police and lawyers said.

The twisted teen even played the hero by pretending to be a helpful bystander who had stumbled across Leo as he lay fatally injured.

Yesterday, after the boy, now 15, admitted murder, Leo’s mum Rachel Fisher said: “My son Leo was the sweetest, most kindhearted boy. He didn’t have a bad bone in his body. My baby’s life was stolen for no reason whatsoever. My life will never be the same again without him. He will be loved and missed forever.”

Senseless

Leo was in foster care. His foster family, the Westons, said: “Leo was the sweetest, kindest boy who put others before himself.
