Mum found girl, 10, mauled to death by pet XL bully

A MOTHER returned home to find her 10-year-old daughter had been fatally attacked by the family’s XL bully dog, which was “covered in blood”, an inquest has heard.

Savannah Bentham was alone in the static caravan where she lived with her parents in East Heslerton, North Yorks, when she was savaged by the six-year-old, Biggie, a police officer said yesterday.

Det Chief Insp Matthew Wilkinson told a hearing in Northallerton how Savannah’s mum Tracey had popped out to ask a relative to fix a faulty gas canister connection, and returned to find the tragic scene.

DCI Wilkinson said: “Savannah was in a foetal position in the address and the dog was present and covered in blood.”
