But this was no day at the seaside for all those poor supporters, who turned up expecting one of the biggest games of the season - and went home deserving a refund.

Yet what do people expect when a team with no idea faces a faded force? This turned out to be one of the worst Manchester derbies in recent memory. A lacklustre game high on mistakes and low on quality, producing a result that meant little to City, and even less to United.

It was also a disappointing farewell to this fixture for Kevin De Bruyne, before the Belgium playmaker leaves the Premier League champions this summer.
