Keir's new pension minister wanted to axe triple lock

LABOUR'S new pensions minister has said he wants to scrap the "triple lock". Sir Keir Starmer was accused of being "anti-pensioner" after giving the role to former think-tank chief Torsten Bell.
Mr Bell in 2020 described the triple lock as "indefensible" and called for it to be axed while he was boss of the Resolution Foundation.
He complained that benefits for pensioners were rising faster than others and urged the then government "to replace the triple lock".
