STEVE BORTHWICK has urged his squad to put smiles back on the faces of England fans and inspire a generation after months of scandal surrounding the sport.

The national men's head coach has been powerless as controversy over bonus payments, clubs going bankrupt and massive losses have engulfed his employers at the RFU.

England have been in a training camp in Girona since last Tuesday, away from the noise swirling around RFU chief executive Bill Sweeney. But can Borthwick has another chance to make a difference where it counts - on the pitch - starting with their Six Nations opener against Ireland in Dublin on Saturday.
