England weather the storm and fight back before Kelly inevitably has the final say

CHLOE KELLY won it for England again as the Lionesses retained their European crown.

Kelly scored the winner at Wembley when Sarina Wiegman’s side lifted the trophy in 2022.

And she bagged the winning penalty here in Basel last night as England won a major tournament on foreign soil for the first time.

After needing spot-kicks to see off Sweden in the quarterfinals, and then extra-time to beat Italy, the Lionesses went the distance for a third time and it felt inevitable that Kelly would have the final say.

Beth Mead saw a twice-taken penalty saved by Cata Coll, but Hannah Hampton denied Mariona Caldentey and Aitana Bonmati only for Coll to produce a huge stop from Leah Williamson.

Salma Paralluelo sent her kick wide, though, and Kelly blasted England to the title.
