Getting all giddy again

LAST summer, on this very page (well, not this actual one, but you know what I mean), I wrote about a new sports documentary series on ITV1, called CHAMPIONS: FULL GALLOP.

I admitted I'd known almost nothing about horse racing before watching it, but that it had got me hooked. I loved the characters, the rivalries, the drama of the races themselves. I felt it had opened up a whole new world to me.

I could actually see myself becoming a racing fan, tuning in regularly to ITV’s coverage, hosted by that nice Ed Chamberlin.

I'd emotionally invest in every race, cheer my favourites, bet irresponsibly, all that kind of stuff. And have I done that? Have I heck.
