EATING a diet rich in fruit, fibre, dairy and caffeine may lower the risk of suffering tinnitus.

Fruit and fibre diet may ease misery of tinnitus

The condition involves noises like ringing in the ears or buzzing, whooshing or humming that do not come from outside sources.

It can be in one or both ears, or in a person's head, and can come and go.

Tinnitus has been linked with distress, depression, anxiety, stress and, in severe cases, suicide.

A study in the journal BMJ Open found some research does suggest a role for diet in cutting risk.

Researchers in China examined eight observational studies involving 301,533 people and their eating habits.
