Daily Express
|December 17, 2025
EXPRESS journalist Philip Geddes was a “young shooting star of the press” when he was murdered by the IRA aged just 24 in 1983.
The son of a Polish refugee who fled the Nazis during the Second World War, he grew up in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, and won a place at St Edmund Hall, Oxford.
He began his career at the London Evening Standard before moving to the Daily Express to work under its editor Christopher Wilson.
