Drug trial shrank 'incurable' mouth tumour by half

A WOMAN who was struck twice by tonsil cancer is celebrating after a drug trial shrank her tumour by half.

Jeanette Joyce, 64, had a persistent runny nose and sore throat in May 2021 and her GP suggested rhinitis.

But after nasal sprays failed she was eventually diagnosed with cancer in her right tonsil and roof of the mouth.

Jeanette endured 33 doses of radiotherapy and two cycles of chemo. She got the all-clear in the July.

But during her 12-month check-up a medic at the Christie NHS cancer centre in Manchester noticed thickening in her throat.
