'Chess players are whip-smart and passionate...it's hot'

COMEDIAN Sue Perkins has described chess as “hot” - adding that the players on her new BBC series are “extraordinary”.

The former Great British Bake Off presenter said she has never seen passion to match that on Chess Masters: The Endgame.

The competition follows 12 amateur players who compete against each other to be crowned the champion.

Sue, 55, said: “I’m obsessed with human psychology and this is why I love chess.

“When you think of chess, you think of maybe a 65-year-old white guy, with a sort of dusty sort of collar. Um, no. Chess is hot.
