Chancellor may have to raise an extra £20bn

RACHEL Reeves’s effort to shift the blame for next month’s tax rises have fallen on deaf ears.

A poll found voters hold the Chancellor responsible.

It comes as Treasury watchdog the Office for Budget Responsibility is expected to downgrade its productivity growth forecast by 0.3 percentage points.

The blow will add an additional £20billion to the sum the Chancellor must find through tax hikes or spending cuts.
