THE Bank Holiday was a fitting finale to a baking-hot summer — with Britons basking in temperatures approaching 30C yesterday.
No records were broken in England — although a high of 29.3C was recorded in Ross-in-Wye, Herefordshire. But Wales and Northern Ireland enjoyed their warmest ever August Bank Holiday Monday. Hawarden in Flintshire hit 29.6C while Magilligan in County Londonderry reached 24.5C.
