Colwill sets a lofty target after 'statement' victory
LEVI COLWILL surveyed a month's work in the USA before claiming Chelsea will challenge for the Premier League title next season and that they can win the Champions League as well.
The defender, left, says their Club World Cup success was a "statement" of intent, and proves the Blues can return to Europe's elite.
Head coach Enzo Maresca guided Chelsea to glory - earning the Stamford Bridge club £97million in prize money - as Cole Palmer's dazzling display helped them beat Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 in the final.
It has given the players belief they can step up next season and fight for the big prizes.
Colwill says that winning mentality comes from Chelsea heroes of the past such as John Terry, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba - and this generation is determined to keep up the club's best traditions.
The 22-year-old said: "I said at the start of this tournament that our plan is to win it and people looked at me as if I was crazy! So, I'm going to say the exact same thing now going into the Premier League and Champions League. We're ready.
