Climate change will see price of beloved strawbs rocket

STRAWBERRIES are set to soar in price due to climate change.

Britain's favourite summer fruit is likely to become fewer in number and more expensive as global temperatures rise, scientists say.

Researchers from the University of Waterloo, Canada studied California's crop using a new method of analysis.

They found a rise of just three degrees Fahrenheit (1.67C) could cut strawberry yield by as much as 40%.

The fruit is one of the most lucrative commodities for the economies of California and the US. The 2022 market for strawberries alone was worth more than £2.3billion.
