Bath ready to Cast spell on Europe again

BATH skipper Ben Spencer leads his side back into Europe tonight convinced they finally have the ammunition to conquer on two fronts.

Scrumhalf Spencer, who starts in the round three clash in Castres, helped Bath to their first Prem title in 29 years last season but they bombed out of the Champions Cup at the pool stages.

Bath did land the second-tier European Challenge Cup, after dropping down from the big one, plus the Premiership Cup, but have had their eyes on the main prize since the start of this campaign.

And Spencer has backed a Bath squad stacked with Test stars, such as Finn Russell, Santi Carreras and Cam Redpath, to become the first English side to do the Champions Cup/Prem double since Exeter did in the Covid-wrecked season of 2019-20.
