Mikel far more ruthless than Wenger says Petit

ARTETA'S A REAL GUN SLINGER

MIKEL ARTETA'S ruthless streak is driving Arsenal's title ambition and sets him apart from Arsene Wenger.

Emmanuel Petit played for Wenger for six years Monaco and three more with the Gunners.

He says that while the French legend was loyal to players long term, the manager now running the show has the single-mindedness needed to dethrone Pep Guardiola.

Petit, a Premier League and FA Cup winner with Arsenal, and a European and world champion with France, said: "You need to be ruthless if you want to be the best. That is one of the biggest differences between Mikel Arteta and Arsene Wenger.

"Wenger was always loyal to whereas with his players Arteta, if he doesn't think you're good enough to play for Arsenal then you're gone.

"You need to be ruthless as a club and as a manager, especially when you're competing with Man City.
