Anger as mating badgers hold up vital road repairs

MATING badgers which collapsed a road are now keeping it closed for months, leaving fed-up villagers with a detour of up to 36 miles.
The 2.5-mile route was shut in October due to damage caused by the protected animals digging a sett.
Highways chiefs had ruled that the road was “no longer safe for motorists”. Repairs licensed to begin on October 13 were then halted until July 1 this year due to badger mating season, angering some locals in East Halton, Lincs.
